BAU Correspondent :
The Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Haque resigned from his post on Tuesday afternoon.
Prof Dr Rafiqul Haque confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to Education Ministry due to ‘health issues’.
It may be mentioned that the pro-Awami League teachers of BAU had been agitating against VC demanding his resignation over his involvment in corruption in recruitment of staff and sexual abuse of a female university staff.
As part of their movement, the teachers’ association had met Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on March 31. The Minister reportedly assured them of taking legal actions after investigation.
Later, University Grants Commission (UGC) formed a five-member probe committee, headed by UGC member Mohammad Mohabbat Khan, to investigate the allegation. The probe committee submitted its report on April 6 that found VC guilty.
