BAU extends Eid vacation

The authority of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has declared the Eid vacation one week earlier as the authority suspects a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of BAU unit and local villegers. The vacation has started from Monday and continue till July 23.
Classes and examinations will resume from on July 26 as July 24 and 25 were Friday and Saturday, confirmed BAU registrar Abdul Khaleque.
However, the decision about the vacation of residential halls has not been taken yet, said convener of provost council Prof Dr Md Mizanur Rahman.
Mentionable, BCL activists on Thursday night vandalized the motorcycle of Abdul Malek, chairman of university adjacent Boira Union Parishod and assaulted him. The local villagers tried to attack on the residential halls of BAU in the protest of assault of their chairman.
Earlier, on July 02, some miscreants attacked BCL BAU unit president at university first gate. In the protest of the attack, BCL activists demonstrated show down on the campus equipped with locally made lethal weapons, besieged VC’s residence, locked advisor and proctor office and ransacked a number of public vehicles. At that time they vandalized and ransacked chairman’s motor cycle. While contacted BAU VC Prof Dr Ali Akbar said, we decided to extend the vacation to avoid unwanted situation on the campus.
