The ban announcement of DSCC Mayor over the battery-run rickshaws, vans and easybikes was to limit the plying of such unauthorised vehicles.
But in reality, activity of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) was seen in stopping these vehicles at all.
In many places of the city, battery- run vehicles and easybikes have been seen moving even in front of the traffic police.
Not only that, these battery- powered rickshaws, vans and easybikes are also seen moving on the highway’s.
There was an order to stop it in DSCC area from Monday.
But DSCC Mayor’s stern warning and ultimatum over stopping these vehicles did not change anything.
The battery- powered rickshaws or easybikes were waiting in long queues for passengers. They said livelihood or sustainability was the reason behind disobeying the instructions of the city corporation.
An easybike driver said, ‘I drive rental battery- run rickshaws. Even if I don’t go out for driving, I have to pay the deposit to the owner.
It is mentionable that somewhere even in front of the traffic police, these battery- run rickshaws usuall, run recklessly at very high speed.
Earlier, DSCC mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh had announced that they will take legal action against all battery-run vehicles from Monday.
