Batsmen banged in the 2nd round first days play of the 17th National Cricket League denying bowlers at four separate venues across the country on Saturday.
In the first innings of the eight-team four-day first class domestic cricket matches on Saturday, Irfan Sukkur and Fazle Mahmud knocked centuries for Chittagong Division and Barisal Division respectively while eight other batsmen knocked fifty plus runs for their respective sides.
Chittagong vs Rajshahi
In their tier-2 first days’ play, Chittagong Division, the side batted first after winning the toss, mounted a decent score of 346 for 8, at stumps, in 88 overs against Rajshahi Division in the first innings at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium (SKS), Rajshahi.
Apart from his century of 102 runs off 167 balls involving 16 boundaries, Irfan contributed in the 6th stand for 100 runs in 24.1 overs with Yasir Ali.
Yasir Ali who hit 91 runs of 136 balls featuring fours and two sixes, built up a solid 122-run partnership in 25.3 overs with Mominul Haque in the 4th wicket stand.
Bangladesh’s impressive Test performer Mominul scored 90 runs off 107 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.
Number seven batsman Mohammad Saifuddin batting on scoring 46 runs off 74 balls with five fours and one six and Jubair Hossain was on a single while the bails were drawn for the first day.
Shafaq Al Zabir grabbed three wickets for 40 runs while Muktar Ali and Taijul Islam took two wickets each for 56 and 89 runs respectively for the side.
Barisal vs Sylhet
In the other tier-2 match at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, sent in to bat first, Barisal Division scored 295 for 5, at stumps, in 69 overs against Sylhet Division in the first innings on day one with Fazle Mahmud’s century.
Fazle Mahmud hit his century scoring 103 runs off 120 balls featuring nine fours and three sixes.
Shahin Hossain and Shahriar Nafees paired for a 116-run in 28.3 overs in the opening stand.
Shahin Hossain scored 58 runs off 109 balls with nine fours while Shahriar Nafees scored 52 off 64 balls with six fours.
Mosaddek Hossain and Al-Amin were batting on scoring 31 and zero runs when the bails were drawn for the day.
Enamul Haque (Jnr) took two wickets for 54 runs for the side while Abul Hasan, Sadiqur Rahman and Rahatul Ferdous took one wicket each for 26, 44 and 53 runs respectively.
Dhaka Division vs Rangpur
Batting first after winning the toss, Dhaka Division scored 265 for 6, at stumps, in 90 overs against Rangpur Division in the first innings of the tier-1 match at Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra.
Rony Talukdar scored team highest 59 runs off 81 balls with nine fours and one six. Raqibul Hasan scored 52 off 82 balls with seven fours.
Nadif Chowdhury and Saghir Hossain were batting on 29 and 1 runs respectively.
Suhrawadi Shuvo grabbed three wickets for 70 runs. Tanveer Haider took two wickets for 31 runs while Saddam Hossain took one wickets for 30 runs.
Khulna Division vs Dhaka Metro
Riding on Mohammad Mithun unbeaten 87 runs off 126 balls with 12 fours in the first innings on day one, Khulna Division, the side elected to bat first, was at stumps scoring 227 for 5 in 58.1 overs against Dhaka Metropolis at Sher-e-Bangla National Crickrt Stadium in Mirpur.
Tushar Imran scored 59 runs off 101 balls with six while Nurul Hasan was on 17 off 34 with one four.
Mohammad Shahid, Abu Hider, Shykat Ali, Elias Sunny and Sharifullah took one wickets each for the side.
