Gazipur District Ansar VDP has started a basic training workshop for village based unarmed VDP members in Ghagutia Union of Kapasia Upazila.
Thirty-two female and 32 male members of the village-based VDP participated in the day-long basic training at Khirati Government Primary School in the upazila on Monday.
This training will continue for the next 10 days.
Upazila Ansar VDP Officer Juena Akhter presided over the inauguration of the basic training. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mosa: Ismat Ara. Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Rasheduzzaman Mia was present at the time.
Upazila Ansar VDP Officer Juena Akhter said that through the basic training of the members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, the basic training of the members is mainly about the history and heritage of Bangladesh, history of Great Liberation War, contribution to socio-economic development, social responsibility, basic legal concept, women and child trafficking. Prevention, Prevention of Child Marriage, Stopping Dowry Payment, Birth Control, Eve Teasing, Acid Throat Control, Prevention of Drug Abuse, Environmental Pollution, Prevention of Corruption and Etiquette, Election, Durga Puja, Responsibility for Natural Disasters etc. Discussions are being held on planting and use of modern agricultural machinery, cattle and poultry rearing and treatment methods, fish farming and medical methods, fire accidents and what to do for VDP members.
The overall training activities are being conducted following the proper hygiene rules in the situation arising out of the Kovid-19 epidemic. Later, according to their qualifications, they will be given more priority in case of being selected for 28 days VDP basic training or 60 days general Ansar basic training. Through this training, the trainees will be recruited / enlisted as members of the Rural VDP Platoon and will have the opportunity to participate in subsequent VDP trainings.
