Staff Reporter :
The High Court (HC) on Thursday granted permanent bail to Fazlus Sobhan, former Deputy Managing Director of Basic bank, in six cases involving loan scam of Tk 4,500 crore.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim
granted him bail after hearing his six separate bail petitions on grounds that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to complete the cases two and half years even in.
Fazlus Sobhan was not, however, released from jail as he had been shown arrested in some other cases, ACC’s lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told the journalists.
He said, the Commission is yet to decide whether it will move appeal in the Supreme Court against the bail order.
Earlier on Wednesday, the High Court expressed utmost dissatisfaction and disappointment with the Anti-Corruption Commission for the long delay in completing investigations in the Basic Bank loan scam cases.
The ACC on Wednesday quizzed former BASIC Bank Chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu in the bank’s loan scam cases for Tk 4,500-crore.
