Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir proposed at least 200 dedicated beds for journalists in the corona hospital at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.
He placed the proposal while addressing the inauguration programme of the country’s largest makeshift hospital on Sunday (May 17).
Sayem Sobhan Anvir said: “As journalists are working outside 24/7, at least 200 beds should be dedicated for them at the hospital.”
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque was present as the chief guest while Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir the special guest.
They formally inaugurated the hospital by cutting a ribbon at an event held at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
Terming the journalists as ‘frontline fighters’, Health Minister assured of implementing the proposal of the Bashundhara Group MD.
As mass media people are frontline fighters like police, army and health workers, they will always get priority, Zahid Maleque said.
Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare ministry M Asadul Islam presided over the programme.
