Bashundhara Kings of Bangladesh kept hope alive to reach the regional semi-finals of the AFC Cup beating Gokulam Kerala FC of India by 2-1 goals in their third Group-D match at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Bashundhara led the first half 1-0.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Robson put his team ahead after dodging past two defenders of Gokulam Kerala FC and deceived the Gokulam goalie by a spectacular shot in the 36th minute of the match.
After the lemon-break, Bashundhara’s Gambian recruit Nuha Marong doubled the margin by a header using a left-side cross of his teammate Robson in the 54th minute of the match.
Gokulam Kerala FC’s Jamaican recruit Jourdaine Fletcher reduced the margin in the 75th minute of the game.
Bashundhara Kings earned six points from three matches, while Gokulam Kerala FC earned three points from as many matches.
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings beat Maziya Sports and Recreation Club of Maldives by a solitary goal in their first Group-D match at the same venue.
Then, Bashundhara Kings lost to ATK Mohun Bagan FC of India by four goals to nil in their second Group-D match at the same venue.
Earlier, ATK Mohun Bagan FC lost to Gokulam Kerala FC by 4-2 goals in their first Group-D match at the same venue.
Later, Gokulam Kerala FC lost to Maziya Sports and Recreation Club by a solitary goal in their second Group-D match at the same venue.
