Holders Bashundhara Kings edged past Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by a solitary goal in their second leg match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Champions Bashundhara Kings bagged 64 points from 23 matches, while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra have taken seventh spot in the points table earning 36 points from 24 matches.
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings blanked Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by four goals to nil in their first leg match.
After a barren first half, Bashundhara Kings were awarded a penalty kick as a defender of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra touched the ball in the danger zone of the Sheikh Russel in the 78th minute of the play. Bashundhrara’s Brazilian recruit Robinho scored the match-winning goal by a spot-kick in the 79th minute of the game. It was Robinho’s 21st goal in the Bangladesh Premier League Football. He is now the highest scorer of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League Football.
Bashundhara broke their record by collecting 64 points from 23 matches. Last year, Bashundhara collected 63 points from 24 matches.
Bashundhara Kings will take on Dhaka Abahani Limited in their last second leg match at the same venue on September 20. The match will kick-off at 4.00pm.
