Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings defeated Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by four goals to nil in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Wednesday.
Bashundhara Kings led the points table bagging 31 points from 11 matches, while Sheikh Russel took the fourth position in the points table earning 17 points from as many matches.
Bashundhara led the first half 2-0.
Bashundhara’s Argentine recruit Raul put his team ahead in the 23rd minute of the play. Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Robinho doubled the margin using a pass of his teammate Sabuz in the 41st minute of the clash.
After the intermission, Robinho increased the tally into 3-0 capitalizing a pass of his Iranian teammate Khalid in the 74th minute of the clash. Raul sealed the fate of the match in the 83rd minute of the game (4-0).
Meanwhile, Saif Sporting Club beat Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-1 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the day’s other match. After yesterday’s out come, Saif Sporting Club collected 16 points from 10 matches, while Uttar Baridhara Club earned six points from as many matches. Saif took the fifth position in the points table. Baridhara remained with six points from as 10 matchers and took the 11th spot in the points table. Arif Hossain of Uttar Baridhara put his team ahead by a left-footer angular shot in the 20th minute.
Saif Sporting’s Nigerian recruit John leveled the margin after dodging past a defender of Uttar Baridhara in the 44th minute of the game. Sazzad of Saif Sporting Club broke the dead-lock by a spectacular header just two minutes before the long whistle.
