Bashundhara Kings blanked Rahmatganj MFS by two goals to nil in their match of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Tuesday.
Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings led the points table bagging 41 points from 16 matches, while Rahmatganj MFS earned 10 points from as many matches.
All the two goals were scored in the first half.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Miguel Ferreira put his team ahead by a spectacular free-kick in the 36th minute of the match.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Robson doubled the margin by an amazing shot in the 38th minute of the clash.
Rahmatganj’s Nigerian recruit Sunday Chizoba’s header was gripped by Anisur Rahman Zico in the 43rd minute of the game.
After the lemon-break, Miguel’s free-kick was bounced back from the crosspiece in the 76th minute of the match.
In the day’s other match, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra defeated Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 3-1 goals at Bashundhara Sports Complex in the city.
Sheikh Jamal took the third position in the points table collecting 30 points from 16 matches, while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra took the eighth position grabbing 18 points from 16 matches.
Sheikh Russel led the first half by 2-1 goals.
Hemanta Vincent Biswas of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra put his team ahead using a pass of his teammate Akinade in the 24th minute of the match.
Sheikh Jamal’s Uzbek recruit Otabel leveled the margin in the 42nd minute of the game.
Sheikh Russel’s foreign recruit Charles made it 2-1 in the injury time of the first half.
After the interval, Sheikh Russel’s midfielder Mannaf Rabbi sealed the fate of the match in the 87th minute of the game.
