Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings beat Brothers Union Club by a solitary goal in their third match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Saturday.
Bashundhara Kings secured nine points from three matches, while Brothers Union Club failed to earn any point playing as many matches.
The first half was locked 0-0.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Robinho scored the match-decider in the 64th minute of the match.
Brothers Union Club got some chances after the breather but they failed to convert those. Earlier, Bashundhara Kings defeated Uttar Baridhara Club by two goals to nil in their opening match of the BPL Football and edged past Bangladesh Police by 2-1 goals in their second match.
On the other hand, Brothers Union Club lost to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited by 1-2 goals in their first match of the BPL and suffered a 0-2 goals defeat to Dhaka Abahani Limited in their second match.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani Limited earned a hard-fought lone-goal victory over Rahmantganj MFS in their third match of the League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on the same day.
After a barren first half, Anahani’s midfielder Jewel Rana scored the all-important goal in the 79th minute of the game.
Dhaka Abahani Limited secured nine points from three matches, while Rahmatganj MFS earned one point from same number of outings.
