Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF) on Tuesday signed a contract with Bashundhara Group to host the first-ever International Professional Golf Tournament in Dhaka named “Bashundhara Bangladesh Open”, a new event on the prestigious Asian Tour, in the last week of May at the Kurmitola Golf Club here.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Golf Federation Brigadier General Abul Fazal Mohammad Salaullah and Additional Managing Director of Bashundhaka Group Safwan Sobhan signed on behalf of their respective organizations for three years at the Banquet Hall of Kurmitota Golf Club Tuesday evening.
BGF Senior vice president Major General Mizanur Rahman Khan, President of Federation’s Junior Division Golf Major General M Masud Razzak, Adviser of Bashundhara Group Lt Col Khandakar Abdul Wahed (Retd) were present on the occasion.
Country’s leading business house Bashundhara Group will sponsor the entire event, the first professional golf tournament in Bangladesh offering prize money of USD 300,000.
Leading professional golfers of Asia, Europe, America and Africa will compete in what will hopefully be one of the biggest golf tournaments in Asia. Some 30 professional golfers of Bangladesh will get the opportunity to compete the meet as host-nation players.
