Son and daughter of late legendary singer Bashir Ahmed, Raja Bashir and Homayra Bashir jointly arranged an award giving ceremony of ‘Bashir Ahmed Sommanona 2019’ and celebrated the 80th birth anniversary of the noted singer at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on November 17.
Ferdousi Rahman, Sheikh Sadi Khan, Shahidullah Farayezi, Mustafa Kamal Syed, Nasir Ahmed and Chandan Dutta got this year’s awards.
Ekushey Award winner lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar, noted music director Azad Rahman, noted singer Khurshid Alam, music director Sheikh Sadi Khan, singer Kanakchapa recalled memories of Bashir Ahmed in the programme which was hosted by Adhora Jahan.
In the programme, Raja and Homayra Bashir and Kanakchapa rendered a song titled Tomar Upoma Tumi, composed by Raja Bashir, to dedicate Bashir Ahmed.
Audience also enjoyed Gazi Mazharul Anwar-written a song titled Papa in voices of Raja and Homayra Bashir in the programme.
