A brilliant batting display by Habibul Bashar guided Jemkon Group Khulna Masters to the final of Master Cricket Carnival when they defeated Confidence Group Dhaka Metro Masters by 16 runs in the second semifinal held on Saturday at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.
Khulna Masters rode on a superb batting display by openers Jamal Babu (18) and Habibul Bashar (32) scored a dependable total of 106 from the stipulated 15 overs, after they opted to bat first.
Chasing a winning target of 107 runs, Dhaka Metro Masters found the chase stiff losing wickets in regular intervals and finally dismissed at 90 despite a fighting 36 runs from Niamur Rashid who cracked two over boundaries during his 27-ball stay on the crease.
Totam was the most successful bowler for Khulna as he grabbed three wickets conceding 21 runs. He was well supported by Safiuddin Babu and Murad Khan who both captured two wickets.
