Chairman of the Bashar Group of Chattogram, Alhaj Abul Bashar Abu has been awarded with the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award 2022’ for his special contribution to commerce and social service at the ‘Maitri Utsav 2022’ held in Kolkata, India on the occasion of the ‘Diamond and Golden Jubilee of India-Bangladesh Independence’ organized by the South Asia Social Cultural Forum and International Literary Gharana. On August 20, the honor crest was presented in a grand ceremony at Rathindra Manch, Thakurbari, Jorasanko, Kolkata, India. At the inauguration of former Chief Justice Shri Chittatosh Mukherjee, the chief guest of the function, West Bengal Health and Family Planning Minister Shri Chandrima Bhattacharya presented the crest of honour. Pankaj Saha, the legendary journalist and writer of the subcontinent, Muhammad Ataullah, chairman of South Asia Social Cultural Forum, Debashish Kumar, West Bengal MLA, Sujit Kumar Bose, former VC of Visva Bharati University and others were present on the occasion.
