Barrister Mainul’s release demanded

World Association of Press Council (WAPC) has demanded immediate release of Barrister Mainul Hosein, Chairman of the Editorial Board of The New Nation.
Barrister Mainul, an ex-Member of Parliament, was also a former president of Bangladesh
Sangbadpatra Parishad (BSP) and chairman of the Editorial Board of the daily Ittefaq
In a statement yesterday, Freedom Fighter Moinuddin Quadry Shawkat, Executive Member of the WAPC and also ex-member of the Bangladesh Press Council and Vice President of the BSP, said, Barrister Mainul had expressed his sorrow ness and beg pardon to the concern person. So, the matter has ended here, he said.
Although Barrister Mainul got bail in the case from the High Court, others also continued to file cases against him on the same matter in different parts of the country only to harass him, the statement added.
Moinuddin Quadery said, “When Barrister Mainul is in bail, it undesirable to sent him to jail in another case on the same issue. It is nothing but personal grudge against him.”
He also said, Barrister Mainul was the elected the Member of Parliament with election symbol “Boat” of Bangabandhu’s Awami League in 1973. At the time of the 4th amendment to the constitution Mainul and the Liberation War Chief General MAG Osmani resigned from the parliament on 25th January in 1975.
 While Bangabandhu was the founder of independent Bangladesh, Barrister Mainul’s father Ittefaq Editor Toffazzal Hossain Manik Mia was one of the dreamers of independent Bangladesh. While the founder’s daughter is ruling the country, the son of the dreamer is languishing in the Jail. It is most disgraceful and shameful, Moinuddin Quadery added.
