Barrister Mainul’s immediate release demanded

BNP Secretary General and Jatiya Oikyafront spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday demanded immediate release of Barrister Mainul Hosein.
He came up with the demand while addressing an Oikyafront rally held at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
Fakhrul said that the government detained Barrister Mainul to fulfill their ill political motives.
Terming his arrest ‘illegal,’ Fakhrul demanded immediate release of Barrister Mainul.
He also read out a list of BNP leaders who have been arrested in politically motivated cases.
“Hundreds of thousands of BNP leaders and activists had been accused in 4,371 cases filed across the country till September 1. They should be released immediately,” added Fakhrul.
Speaking at the rally, Founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “Under the present situation, those who are speaking the truth, being taken to jail. The best example is Barrister Mainul. He was sent to jail because
 he criticized the incumbent government. He demanded also immediate release of Mainul Hosein.
As he raised the demand, the large audience also chanted slogans supporting the release of Mainul Hosein.
The reputed lawyer, who had a role in formation of the Jatiya Oikyafront, was arrested from JSD (Rab) President ASM Abdur Rab’s Uttara residence on October 22 in the defamation case filed with a Rangpur court by human rights activist Mili Maya.
