Barnaly Rashid awarded PhD

Barnaly Rashid Banny, the only daughter of National University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid and Nargis Akhter Helen, has recently been awarded PhD degree by the University of New Mexico (UNM), United States on the successful completion of her research in the area of ‘Medical Imaging’. The main focus of her research was to develop a new framwork to identify brain based biological markers in order to differentiate between healthy brain and patients with severe mental disorders such as autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders for diagnosis purpose. Her supervisor was Prof Dr Vince Calhoun of UNM Mind Research Network.
Barnaly Rashid carried on her research in the same Lab for the last 5 years. She had her school and college education in Udayan Mahaviddalaya in Dhaka University Campus and the Holy Cross College, Tejgoan respectively with briliant results. After completing her 4-year graduation with honours from North South University she proceeded to the United States for higher studies. Barnaly Rashid also earned an MS degree from UNM.
