Journalists of different print-audio-video, online, electronic medias along with socio- cultural-political activists, professionals and eminent citizens of the city on Sunday noon have been shown their agitation protesting torturing and jailing by Kurigram district administration against Ariful Islam Regan, a journalist of Bangla Tribune in Kurigram district.
Barishal Reporters Unity forming human chain organised the protest rally in front Ashwini Kumar Hall of the city and Sushanta Ghosh, president BRU, presided over the rally. The participants and speakers of the rally demanding immediate release, withdrawal of the false case lodged against him gave an ultimatum to punish, those including Kurigram deputy commissioner Sultana Parvin and the magistrate and law enforcers who were involved for arresting, torturing the journalist and jailing forming mobile court. Among others , Manabendra Batabayal, president Barishal Press Culb,Swapan Khondokar, secretary, Journalist Union of Barishal, Prof.Imanul Hakim, educationist, Syed Dulal, cultural activists, Nazrul Huq Nilu, Manisha Chakraborty, political activists, Rahima Sultana Kajal, development organization activist, spoke at the protest rally.

Unity’s President-Ittefaq correspondent addressed the protest meeting chaired by Shah Jamal, Vice-president of the unity, Md Fazlul Karim, Acting General Secretary Masud Rana , Finance Secretary Zilgur Rahman Roton, Organizing Secretary Muttasimbillah (Bussines Bangladesh), Executive Director of Sonar Bangla Computer Training Institute Hatem Ali and cultural activist Habibur Rahman.
