The annual election of Barisal Press Club executive committee was held at club premises on Wednesday late night.
Total 31 candidates from two panels as Babul-Humayun and Iqbal-Pulak contested in the election with 82 voters.
After casting votes from 4:00-8:30 pm Wednesday at Barisal Press Club, counting started from 9:00 pm.
Election commissioner Nazrul Islam Chunnu officially declared the result on early Thursday.
Kazi Nasir Uddin Babul (Ajker Barta) from Babul-Humayun panel elected as president with 8 others in different posts and Pulak Chattarjee (Samakal) from Iqbal-Pulak panel elected secretary with 7 others.
The elected others were Gopal Sarkar (Matobad ) and MM Amzad Hossain (Ajker Barta) , vice presidents, Kazi Al Mamun (Barisaler Ajkal ), treasurer, Kazi Miraz Mahmud (Samakal ), joint secretary, M. Mofazzel Hosen (Bhorer Alo), office secretary, Debashish Roy (Dakkhinanchal ), library Secretary, Arefin Tushar (Bhorer Alo), sports secretary, Nasir Uddin , cultural secretary.
The elected other executive members were Manobendra Batobayal (Sangbad ) , Nurul Alam Farid ( Biplobi Bangladesh ), Zakir Hosen (Ajker Barta), Mosharraf Hosen (Protidin ), Kazi Mokbul Hosen ( Barisaler Ajkal ) , Tapankar Chakraborti ( Barisaler Ajkal ) and Zia Shahin (Ajker Barta).
