Mosaddek scored a massive 282 runs to boost Barisal Division to a mammoth 597/9 declared against Chittagong Division in the first innings on the second day of the fifth round clash in the four-day Walton 16th National Cricket League at the BKSP ground-2 in Savar on Tuesday.
In reply, Chittagong Division were trailing by a 437 runs in the first innings on the second day scoring 124 runs for 2 at stumps in 45 overs.
In the day’s play, Barisal Division resumed the first innings with overnight 417 for 6 in 90 overs and eventually scored 597 for 9 before declaring the innings, spurred by two 100-plus partnerships for the 7th and 9th wickets.
In the ninth wicket stand Mosaddek partnering with Kamrul Islam contributed 134 runs in 28.2 overs, having paired with Salman Hossain to contribute 127 runs in 18.5 overs in the 7th wicket stand.
Overnight centurion Mosaddek Hossain hit doubles scoring 282 runs off 309 balls with 37 fours and 5 sixes while Salman Hossain (37) and skipper Kamrul Islam (not out 23) were the other double digit contributors for the side on the second day.
Faisal Hossain claimed three wickets for 161 runs while Saifuddin and Mehedi Hasan Rana took two wickets each conceding 89 and 101 runs respectively in the first innings.
Meanwhile at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, league leader Dhaka Division posted 366 in the first innings on the second day against Khulna Division, spurred by Shuvagata Hom’s innings of 135 runs.
Opening the first innings, Khulna Division trailed by 242 runs scoring 124 runs for 3, at stumps, in 33 overs on the second day.
In the two other on the second day’s play, Rangpur Division took 94 runs lead against Rajshahi Division at BKSP Ground-3 in Savar while Dhaka Metro led by 93 runs against Sylhet Division at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
