Barisal non-govt teachers demanded end of discrimination by inclusion in pay-scale

Teachers of non-government schools in a day-long tri-annual district conference and rally on Thursday demanded indiscriminate unitary education system by inclusion in government announced pay-scale and nationalization of their service.
They also demanded thirty-percent of national budget allocations to develop the education sector and implementation of time-scale, sufficient medical and house rent allowances for the non-government teachers and employees.
Speaker and participants of the programme said government yet not declared inclusion of teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions in the prepared new pay-scale, nor declared separate pay-commission for them.
But teachers and employees of government educational institutions as other government service holders will automatically be included in the prepared pay-scale, they noticed.
They demanding indiscriminate education policy for the country said only nationalisation of education service could end injustice of the existing discriminatory education system.
Education would never be standardized till the discriminations between government and non-government educational institutions would not be removed, the leaders and activists of teachers association said.
Without giving us proper prestige, social status, salaries, how nation could imagine that we would perform our duties of building nation, attribute good citizenship among the children and youths and strengthen back bone of the nation, they asked.
The programme was organised at Barisal Ashwani Kumar Hall by Bangladesh Shikkhak Samitti (BSS) Barisal district unit.
Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus, district AL secretary and lawmaker, as chief guest inaugurated the conference.
Abdul Malek, district president of BSS presided over the program addressed among others by Abu Bakkar Siddik, central president , Bazlur Rahman, central vice-president, Abul Kashem, central secretary, Kawsar Ali Sheikh, central joint secretary, Das Gupta Ashish Kumar, regional president, Tofael Ahmed, Jahangir Hossain, Abul Kalam Azad, Mofazzel Hossain, local leaders of BSS.
The speakers also criticized too much politicization the school committee in different time which barring teachers from performing their duty properly without obstructions.
Hundreds of non government school teachers from 10 upazilas of the district attended the conference and rally.
