Barisal Bulls lost to Dhaka Dynamites by four wickets in their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Barisal Bulls scored a modest 132 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Dhaka Dynamites reached the winning spot making 135 for the loss of six wickets when they had just four balls to spare.
Barisal faced an early batting jolt as they lost three wickets for 37 runs.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Nadif Chowdhury repaired the damage contributing together 47 runs for the fourth wicket stand before Mushfiqur Rahim was bowled out by Shakib Al Hasan when Barisal’s score was 84 for the loss of four wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim hit a captain’s knock of 36 from 30 balls featuring two fours.
Later, Thisara Perera and Rumman Raees made another notable partnership. They put on together 34 runs for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership before Barisal innings came to an end.
Rumman Raees remained unbeaten with 25. His 13-ball innings was decorated with two fours and a sixer.
Nadif Chowdhury and Thisara Perera added 21 and 15 (not out) runs respectively to the Barisal total.
Abu Jayed, Ravi Bopara, Shakib Al Hasan and Dwayne Bravo took one wicket each for 12, 23, 31 and 35 runs respectively.
Later, Dhaka Dynamites had a shaky start as they lost opener Mehedi Mruf (1), who was bowled out by Taijul Islam when Dhaka’s total was just two runs.
Then Kumar Sangakkara and Shakib Al Hasan salvaged their team from early danger adding together 51 runs before Kumar Sangakkara was caught by Thisara Perera off Taijul Islam when Dhaka’s score was 53 for the loss of two wickets.
Later, Nasir Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain built another worthy partnership. They contributed together 45 runs for the fourth wicket stand before Nasir Hossain was trapped leg before wicket by Monir Hossain when Dhaka’s 113 for the loss of four wickets.
Nasir Hossain hit a polished 34 from 29 balls including two fours and a sixer.
Mosaddek Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan contributed together 23 and 22 runs respectively to the Dhaka’s total.
Taijul Islam bagged a couple of wickets at the cost of 19 runs, while Monir Hossain, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Enamul Haque (Junior) took one wicket each for 12, 14 and 24 runs respectively.
Shakib Al Hasan of Dhaka Dynamites was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
