All round performance by Monir Hossain enabled Barisal DSA to make a flying start in the 34th National Cricket Championship beating Naogaon DSA by 104 runs at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.
Put to bat first, Barisal DSA piled up moderate 248 runs for all in 49.3 overs with tail-ender Monir Hossain contributing team highest 42 runs off 29 balls that featured three fours and four sixes.
Besides, Nuruzzaman (37), Moin (33), Raisul Islam (26), Sajib (26) and Maidul (24) were the other notable scorers for Barisal.
Zillu grabbed four wickets for 33 runs while Rifat took two for 25 runs.
In reply, Naogaon DSA were dismissed for 144 runs in 39.4 overs.
Javed Hossain (29), Zillu (29), Ariful Islam (24) and Rifat (not out 20) were the leading scorers for Naogaon DSA.
Monir Hossain, who earlier scored quick 42 runs, also displayed his brilliance in bowling grabbing four wickets for 31 runs to be adjudged man of the match.
Tarique, Moin and Saif took two wickets each for 16, 19 and 35 runs respectively.
The day’s other match between Mymensingh and Dinajpur DSAs was abandoned at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra due to rain.
