Inaugurating the training workshop, BARI Director General Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam said that chemical pesticides are being misused in the name of controlling crop insects in the country. In this Mujib’s year, our goal is to ensure food security for all as well as safe food. And for this we need to invent alternative methods of chemical pesticides. Scientists of BARI’s Entomology Division have already developed some technology of bio pesticides as an alternative to chemical pesticides. “We hope that BRAC will play an important role in raising awareness among the marginalized people of the country to ensure safe food as part of the government’s development partners,” he added.
