BARI holds trainers training on flower production

The Floriculture Division of the Horticulture Research Center of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) arranged a trainers training workshop Sunday in the seminar room of the Horticulture Research Center. Scientific assistants of BARI and farmers from different districts participated at the training workshop.
BARI Director (Horticulture Research Centre) Dr. Abeda Khatun inaugurated the training workshop as chief guest. Chief Scientific Officer of Floriculture Division and Project Director Dr. Kabita Anzuman Ara presided over the function while Director (Tuber Crops Research Centre) Dr. S M Sharifuzzaman was present as special guest. Scientists and officers from various divisions were also present on the occasion.
In her speech, BARI Director (Horticultural Research Center) Dr. Abeda Khatun said flowers were not considered a crop once. It was only considered as a beautification tools.
But today flowers are a high value crop. As floriculture is more profitable, it has a great demand among the farmers at the field level. Not only it is the flower, symbol of beauty and purity. Many farmers are now benefiting by cultivating flowers. I hope the trainees will benefit from today’s workshop and accelerate floriculture in the country.
