BARI holds completion review workshop on pulse crop

The Pulses Research Sub-Station, Gazipur of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has arranged completion review workshop on ‘Khesari, Mashkalai and Felon varietal development, Seed production and post-harvest technology innovation & dissemination program’ at the Institute’s Kazi Badrudduza auditorium today (Sunday, 25 October 2020). Scientists from various centers, sub-stations and divisions of BARI participated in the workshop.
Director General of BARI Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam inaugurated the workshop as chief guest in the morning. BARI Director (Research) Dr. Md. Miaruddin chaired the workshop while Director (Support & Services) Md. Habibur Rahman Sheikh and Director (Pulse Research Centre) Dr. Debashis Sarkar were present as special guests. Project Director and Chief Scientific Officer of the Pulses Research Sub-Station, Gazipur Dr. Md. Omar Ali presented keynote paper in the workshop.
In his speech, Director General of BARI Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam said that to ensure the nutritional security of the people of the country, we have to increase the production of pulse crops. To enhance this production, we need to increase the production of major pulse crops as well as minor pulse.
At the same time, we have to work towards producing nutrient-safe foods. Therefore, the production of new varieties of these pulses crops must be increased through the use of modern technology.
