MV Express, an 18-metre-long container vessel in the port’s CCT-3 berth, pushed Kohima and leaked a barge called ‘Medina-6.’ There is a leak of more than one square foot in the Bay 22 (Hall Frame) area of the big ship. On Tuesday morning, the MV Express Kohima was taken to the TSP jetty for repairs. At the time, the ship was carrying 92 TEUS export containers.
Sources said the barge hit the container ship around 3:30pm on Monday (May 30). At that time, the ship was loaded with containers full of 92 TEUs export goods. Container loading and unloading operations were stopped after the injury.
The 138 TEUS containers already on board were unloaded for balance.
The port authorities recovered the fine after seizing the barge.
