Barcelona closed the gap on Real Madrid at the top of La Liga to just one point with an impressive victory over Athletic Bilbao. Los Blancos have two games in hand on the Catalans but strikes from Paco Alcacer, Lionel Messi and Aleix Vidal helped Barcelona put the pressure on Zinedine Zidane’s side. Athletic missed two huge chances early in the game, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen making a superb save to tip Raul Garcia’s effort onto his post, before Inaki Williams’ headed off-target when left unmarked in the box.
At the other end Neymar couldn’t turn the ball home after a slip in the box from Oscar de Marcos let the ball reach him, but he made amends with his surge inside for the opening goal, teeing up Paco Alcacer at the near post in the 18th minute.
