Classes XI inaugurates
Class XI class of 2021-22 academic session was formally inaugurated at Zonal Degree College in Baraigram of Natore district. Classes resumed on Wednesday after the college was closed for a long time due to the epidemic Covid 19. College Principal Abul Ashar Shafiuzzaman presided over the function and Assistant Professor Md. Maklesur Rahman conducted it. Jahidul Islam Former Upazila Chairman of Gurudaspur upazila and Chairperson of the governing body of the college Md Jahidul Islam was the chief guest at the function. Vice President SM Rajibul Karim, Assistant Professor. Jalal Uddin, Md. Shamim Reza, Md. Babul Hossain, benevolent donor member Md. Abu Helal spoke as a special guest. Among others,Senior Lecturer Nazrul Islam, students Suraiya Pithu and Mehedi Hasan addressed the function.
Meet on Liberation, Bangabandhu’s contribution
A discussion meeting titled ‘Memorial of the Liberation War and Bangabandhu’s Contribution to the Liberation War’ was held in Baraigram Municipality of Natore district on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Great Independence. Mayor Majedul Bari Nayan made a virtual speech as the chief guest in the discussion meeting which was held in 9 wards of the municipality simultaneously on Tuesday afternoon. Secretary Jalal Uddin, Panel Mayor Fazlul Karim Fazer and other Presidents and Secretaries of the respective wards AL addressed the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of their respective ward councilors.
Golden jubilee of Caritas observed
The golden jubilee of Caritas, a private development organization was celebrated at the college ground of Bonpara St.Joseph’s School College in Baraigram recently. The programme was started with a colorful rally in the morning. Later, science fairs, debates, literary and cultural competitions, prizes and certificates were distributed with the participation of 5 schools. On the occasion, a discussion meeting was held. This meeting was presided over by Caritas, Rajshahi Regional Director Suklesh George Costa and conducted by lecturer Ekram Khan. Bonpara Municipal Mayor KM Zakir Hossain was the chief guest at the discussion meeting. Special guests were Father Dilip S.Costa, Secretary of Rajshahi Religious Education Commission, Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Former Chairman, Jowari UP, Upazila Secondary Education Officer. Abdur Rauf, Principal of St. Joseph’s School College Father Dominic Gomez, Assistant Headmaster Benedict Gomez and others.
Alleged attempt to rape schoolgirl
Police have arrested an old man named Khorshed Ali (70) on charges of trying to rape a girl student in Baraigram of Natore district. He was arrested from Chamta village in Zonal Union of the upazila on Sunday afternoon. Detained Khorshed Ali is the son of late Naimuddin of Chamta village. Locals said the child was fishing in a pond near the house on Sunday afternoon. At that time, the old man called her to a nearby hut, grabbed her face and tried to rape her. When the child started shouting, people came forward and arrested Khorshed Ali. Upon receiving the news, the police took him to the police station from the spot.
Illegal tree cutting
Trees were cut in Baraigram of Natore in Dhulia village recently. According to the victim Munsher Ali, Billal and his associates from the same village cut down three big mango trees in his garden at night. The estimated cost of the three trees is more than forty thousand rupees. Headmaster Rustum Mollah said Munsher Ali had been occupying the land for the last 40 years.
In this regard, land owner Munsher Ali said he has lodged a complaint with Baraigram police station in the name of 5 people for the crime of cutting down three trees.” Officer-in-charge of the police station Abu Siddique said we have received a written complaint that both the parties are expected to appear before the police station next Friday with the necessary documents.
