Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Tuesday said, “The life of a lawyer is never smooth. He needs devotion, timeliness, patience, honesty, hard work and continuous study to reach the peak of success through various ups and downs.”
He also said that, bar and bench must be vocal against all irregularities to protect the dignity of the law profession.
He was speaking at a reception programme as the chief guest organized by the Dhaka University LLM Lawyers Association (DULLA) at the Supreme Court premises.
The Chief Justice said, “A lawyer has to apply his
education, talent and discretion in conducting a case. An advocate should never present a case of distortion knowingly.”
Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Justice Mirza Hussain Haider, Housing and Public Works Minister Advocate S M Rejaul Karim, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Advocate Zainul Abedin, SCBA Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan, among others, gave speech in the program.
President of DULLA Advocate A K M Foyez presided over the programme and the organization’s Secretary Advocate Sheikh Ali Ahmed Khokan and Advocate Fahima Nasrin Munni conducted it jointly.
