The High Court Division of the Supreme Court on Monday summoned the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Banshkhali Police Station in Chittagong on April 5 for not recording a murder case.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Haque passed the order yesterday after hearing on a writ petition. Besides, the HC bench issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain within four weeks as to why they
should not be directed to record the murder case.
Home Secretary, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong and Superintendent of Police (SP), UNO of Banshkhali and OC of Banshkhali Police Station were made respondents to the rule.
One Mohammad Ali was killed on February 1. Later, his wife Rumi Akhter submitted an application accusing 29 persons for killing her husband. But, the OC did not record it as FIR. Later, Rumi Akhter filed the writ petition with the High Court.
