The central bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman on Sunday called upon the commercial banks to set up their branch in the former enclave areas with a view to ensuring banking facilities.
The governor also asked banks to extend their CSR fund among the enclave people in order to improve their livelihood.
The governor said this while visiting former enclave areas in Panchagarh district to launch different programmes there.
Already different financial institutions have undertaken various programmes for the development of enclave areas under their CSR fund. The central bank chief assured that the financial institutions would take necessary steps for ensuring overall welfare of the residents of former enclaves.
