All scheduled banks and non-banking financial institutions in the capital will remain closed today for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-polls.
Besides, the head offices of the central bank and its branches located in the capital will also remain closed on the day, facilitating officials and employees of the financial institutes to cast votes.
Banks’ branches outside Dhaka city will remain open as usual, according to a central bank
circular released on Wednesday.
Md Serajul Islam, Executive Director and spokesperson of the central bank, told reporters that banks and their branches remained closed on the election day.
A limited phase of foreign exchange related banking operation in both the central bank and commercial banks will continue, as such function is not closed even during the public holidays, he said.
