Bangladesh Bank has advised that bank branches near cattle markets in Dhaka operate extra hours in the lead-up to Eid-ul-Azha.
Those branches have also been asked to stay open till 8:00pm on July 31, the day before Eid.
The Banking Regulation and Policy Division of Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Monday.
The circular said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, a huge amount of cash is transacted at the markets selling sacrificial animals under the supervision and management of Dhaka North and South city corporations.
As a result, the security of financial transactions at the markets is very important, it added.
