The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested Showkat Islam, a manager of Al Arafah Islami Bank Limited, of the city’s Reazuddin Bazar branch on charges of misappropriating subscribers’ money of over TK 11 lakh.
The arrested official Mohammad Showkat Hossain, former manager of Cox’s bazar branch is now at the same post in the city’s Reazuddin bazar branch of Al Arafah Islami Bank Limited.
A team of the ACC arrested him from city’s Reazuddin bazar branch of the Bank at around 10-30 am in a case filed by ACC with Cox’s bazar Police Station on July 16 last, ACC sources said.
Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, Director ACC Chittagong district office, said the arrested person misappropriated a total of TK 11 lakh from two separate subscribers’ DPS at Cox’s bazar branch through illegal ways at different times.
