Transaction of Tk 6 cr: Bank probe team keeps mum

The members of Bangladesh Bank’s investigation teams who yesterday visited Shimrail branch of Dutch-Bangla Bank and Rayerbagh branch of Jamuna Bank on Sunday to find out the clues of alleged exchange of Tk 6.0 crore for the killing of Narayanganj City Corporation’s panel mayor Nazrul Islam, refused to give any information about their findings to the press.
The teams of the vigilance department and Bangladesh Financial Intelligent Unit of the central bank visited the branches of the two private banks on the day, said a BB official who was a member of an investigation team.
He, however, declined to divulge anything to their findings. “We cannot provide the information to the press right now because of it’s sensitivity.”
Earlier, BB launched the investigation to find out the evidence of the alleged money transactions to some members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).The money was given to some Rab through the branches of the two private banks to kill Nazrul, alleged his father-in-law Shahidul Islam on Sunday.
Nazrul along with his four aides and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker with his driver were abducted around the same time on April 27 after they left the court area in Narayanganj by two cars.
Six bodies, including those of Nazrul and Chandan, were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river three days later, and another the following day.
