Bank Asia started payment of monthly salary of Echotex Limited, a renowned garments factory in the country, with a view to bring country’s readymade garments (RMG) workers under the umbrella of digital payroll systems, said a press release.
As a result of the initiative, Bank Asia used digital Omni Channel account opening system for the first time. More than 5,000 workers of the factory are receiving their monthly salary through the digital channel of Bank Asia, said the media release.
In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the organizations in a ceremony held at the Corporate Office of the Bank at Purana Paltan in the capital city Dhaka on Thursday.
Arfan Ali, President and Managing Director of Bank Asia and Mohammed Bin Quasem, Director of Echotex Limited inked the formal contract on behalf of respective organizations.
Muhammed Zahirul Alam and Mohammed Borhanuddin, Deputy Managing Directors, Sarder Akhter Hamed, SEVP and Head of Channel Banking Division of the Bank and Syed Abdul Mannan, Director and Anisur Rab Choudhury, Financial Controller of Echotex Limited were present among others.
