Banglalink sponsored ‘Swadhinota Dibosh Nouka Baich Protijogita 2015’ at Hatirjheel in the city on Thursday. This is the second time that Banglalink is organizing a full scale boat race in Hatir Jheel, Dhaka, since last year when they organized the city’s first ever such event for Bijoy Dibosh.
Bangladesh Rowing Federation is the partner of Banglalink for organizing this event. Since the inception in 1974, this organization has been continuously trying to uphold boat race as one of our mainstream cultural activities of Bangladesh. To encourage this sport, every year many colorful boat-racing competitions have been organized. Banglalink has been sponsoring a number of boat races throughout the nation at different times of the year with Rowing Federation since 2010.
As Hatir Jhil is one of the most happening places in the heart of Dhaka city, this event was a conference and reunion for mass people of Dhaka and the nation at large where audiences from all age, race and religion came to enjoy the program. More than 20 thousand people gathered at Hatir Jheel to enjoy the race.
Shakib al Hasan, Brand Ambassador, Sharfuddin Ahmed Chowdhury of banglalink; Advocate Molla Mohammad Abu Kawser, President, Bangladesh Rowing Federation; Haji Md Khorshed Alam, Senior Vice President, Chairman Tournament Committee Bangladesh Rowing Federation, and Mohammed Monirul Alam, General Secretary, Bangladesh Rowing Federation were present.
Speaking to occasion Sharfuddin Ahmed Chowdhury said, “Boat racing is one of the most culturally significant symbols in our country, and Banglalink’s regular patronage of it, as we have shown over the years, after a number of events, is part of our endeavor to promote and encourage local culture and tradition. Today’s Shadhinota Dibosh Nouka Baich Protijogita will reinforce our commitment towards the traditional cultural arena on the nationalistic platform.”
