Bangladesh’s progress in education sector lauded

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Manmohan Parkash on Sunday appreciated Bangladesh’s progress in the education sector and said ADB’s activities would be expanded further in the country.
“Bangladesh has achieved remarkable successes in the education sector,” he said during a meeting with Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at his office in the ministry here, said an official release.
ADB Resident Mission Senior Social Sector Officer SM Ebadur Rahman and Senior External Relations Officer Gobinda Bar were present on the occasion, the release added.
During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing ADB projects in Bangladesh, according to the release.
Parkash said that ADB will try to apply Bangladesh’s success stories in the education sector in other countries.
Referring to the ADB president’s scheduled visit to Dhaka on February 26, Parkash said the ADB chief is interested to know how the success stories of Bangladesh in the education sector could be applied in other countries.
Nahid thanked the ADB for its assistances to the country’s education sector and hoped that the relations between Bangladesh and ADB would strengthen further in the future.
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain, Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Alamgir and Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Additional Secretary Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed were also present in the meeting, among others.
