Deposits made by Bangladeshis in various Swiss banks dropped by 27 per cent year-on year in 2017 amid a continuing global clampdown on the famed secrecy wall of Switzerland’s banking system.
The funds held by Bangladeshi citizens with banks in Switzerland fell to 481.32 million Swiss francs or equivalent Tk 4,064 crore at the end of 2017, as per the latest data released by the Swiss National Bank (SNB) on Thursday.
The amount was Tk 5,575 crore in 2016 and Tk 4,423 crore in 2015.
