Bangladeshi people living abroad are similarly passing days through concern like their native at home heading the national polls on December 30.
The democracy here may face instability in this moment, BBC said in special Bengali report.
Such anxiety is being prevailed among the Bangladeshi community specially who are young in age. Talking with BBC Bangla Nadia Ali, a presenter of BBC’s Asian Network, said, “We always keenly observed about what happening in Bangladesh, even in family discussion, our parents gave priority in gossiping on who will come in power in upcoming parliamentary election.”
Cause of this anxiety she said, “Though I was born and grown in Britain, I feel that I am a Bangladeshi, my relatives are living there, so we have interest on the politics of the country.”
Bangladesh community got update regularly from different newspapers and television channel in Britain and Dhaka in this regard, she said.
Nadia Ali said, people of the community also divided in supporting Awami League and BNP, some of them are keeping eye on updated of social media.
Though the young Bangladeshi origin British-Bangladeshi know little about Awami League and BNP, but they knew that Prime Sheikh Hasina and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s family are very important leader in this country’s politics, she said.
Talking with BBC Nadia Ali said, the British- Bangladeshi people want a peaceful and democratic Bangladesh where rule of law, freedom of speech, no corruption and truth and justice will be given top priority.
They also want a government in Dhaka who has commitment to build a positive Bangladesh and made change as per desire of youth society, she said.
For family bondage, cultural heritage and war of freedom people of Bangladeshi community feel pride in abroad, she said.
