UNB, Naogaon :
A Bangladeshi cattle trader was killed and another injured as Indian border guards tortured them on Kalmudanga border in Sapahar upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 36, son of Abdul Rauf, a resident of Kalmudanga village, while the injured as Islam, 48, son of Dost Mohammad, a resident of Shimuldanga village of the upazila.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said BSF members from Chhonghat camp picked the duo up while a group of cattle traders, including Nurul and Islam, went close to border pillar No. 239 to bring Indian cattle on Monday night. Later, the BSF members took the duo to their camp where they tortured them mercilessly and gave electric shock, leaving Nurul dead on the spot and Islam injured.
The BSF men then left them along the border at the dead of night.
Later, local people recovered the body of Nurul and rescued Islam and took him to a local hospital, said BGB Battalion-14 commanding officer Lt Col Rafiqul Islam.
