BSS, Dhaka :
Bangladesh national cricket team led by Mushfiqur Rahim left Sri Lanka on Monday to play a full series against their Sri Lankan counterpart starting next month.
Tigers departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2pm on a flight to Colombo.
Bangladesh will begins their Sri Lankan campaign with a two-day warm-up match to be held Match 2-3 at Moratuwa followed by two Tests.
The first Test will be held on March 7-11 in Galle while the second Test is slated on March 15- 19 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
There are also three ODIs, the first two are to be played in Dambulla on March 25 and 28 while the third and final ODI will be held on April 1 Sinhalese Sports Club ground.
After the ODI series, the two sides will play two T20is to be played at Premadasa Stadium on April 4 and 6.
The good part of the Bangladesh team is that bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman has returned to Bangladesh’s Test squad after his injury. He did not play in the Test at New Zealand and in one-off Test in Hyderabad,
The other pacer Rubel Hossain is making his comeback after a long injury for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
Opener Imrul Kayes will miss the two-match series, which starts from March 7, due to a thigh injury. However selectors have not ruled him out completely as Imrul is taking part in domestic completion which began yesterday BCL in Chittagong.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin told reporters on Saturday while announcing the 16-member Test squad for the upcoming series that the opener may be included for the second Test in R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on March 15 Sri Lanka if he is declared fully fit after the fifth round BCL match.
Imrul did disappoint the National selectors as he hammered 136 for South Zone against Islami Bank East Zone at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
“After the fifth round, Imrul will face a fitness test on March 4 and if everything is okay then he will join the team. As he is also in our limited-overs plan, his inclusion in the team for the second Test would not be a problem at all,” Minhajul said last week.
Earlier, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board together with Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed the Bangladesh’s tour to Sri Lanka which will begin from February 27 to April 6.
