Sports Reporter :
After winning the first Test by three wickets against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe today in the second Test match at the Sheikh Abu Nasser Stadium in Khulna, the port city of the country. The clash starts at 9.30 am BST (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Before taking part in this Test match, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe faced each other in 12 occasions. Of them, Zimbabwe composed six wins while Bangladesh won three Test matches and rest of the three encounters ended in draw.
Bangladesh will meet Zimbabwe in the third and last Test match at the Zahur Ahmad Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong from November 12 to November 16.
Captain of Bangladesh team Mushfiqur Rahim said, “To win the Khulna Test we have to correct our mistakes in bowling, batting and fielding. If we perform well in three departments our dream to win the series will came true. In any Test match you can see one or two soft dismissals, but in our case we see five or six soft dismissals, which is really alarming. We are trying to improve our concentration.”
Coach of Zimbabwe Stephen Mangongo said, “The first Test was close and we have prepared hard for the second game. We are determined to level the series here.”
The Khulna pitch is likely to suit the home side better. It’s the usual brown subcontinent clay unlike the dark soil in Dhaka that aided bounce. This surface is likely to get slower and lower with time. And it will turn.
