Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team edged past Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team by three runs in their Group B match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Cricket at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh Women made a fighting 115 for the loss of nine wickets in the regulation 20 overs and then they restricted Sri Lanka Women to 112 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Rumana Ahmed of Bangladesh was the top scorer with 41. Her 34-ball innings was decorated with three boundaries.
Salma Khatun hit a captain’s knock of 22 from 18 balls featuring four fours.
Opener Sharmin Akhter and No 8 batsman Fahima Khatun contributed 18 and 14 runs to the Bangladesh total.
HH Gunaratne and KD Prabodhani bagged a pair of wickets each in the space of 15 and 18 runs respectively.
Besides, SS Weerakkody, PR Kumarihami and HA Siriwardene picked up one wicket each for two, 17 and 32 runs respectively.
Later, BY Mendis hit a run-a-ball 33 with five boundaries while HA Siriwardene made 31 from 36 balls with two fours.
Besides, AC Jayangani scored 17 off 15 balls including three fours.
Panna Ghosh of Bangladesh shone with the cherry grabbing three wickets at the cost of 18 runs.
Besides, Salma Khatun, Rumana Ahmed and Jahanara Alam took one wicket each for 14, 23 and 27 runs respectively.
