Touring Bangladesh will take on West Indies today in the first One Day International (ODI) match at the National Stadium in Grenada. The match starts at 7.30 pm BST (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Before today’s match, Bangladesh faced West Indies in 25 ODI encounters. Of them, West Indies registered win in 16 matches while Bangladesh won seven matches and two matches were abandoned.
It is interesting that Bangladesh’s performance against West Indies in Caribbean Island is really satisfactory. The Caribbeans won four ODI matches while the Tigers won three ODI games.
West Indies is at number 8 in ICC ranking while Bangladesh is number 9 team.
After dismal performance in Sri Lanka series, Asia Cup, Twenty20 World Cup and India series, it is the first assignment for Bangladesh Cricket team.
Bangladesh cricketers are now in a festive mood as the Tigers beat Grenada in the practice one-dayer by 95 runs. The top order batsmen of Bangladesh returned to a satisfactory form. Besides, The Bangladeshi bowlers also showed brilliant performance.
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal notched up 91, Mahmudullah Riyad made 78 and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 44.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the country’s best pacer grabbed three wickets for 44 runs while Al-Amin Hossain and Abdur Razzak bagged a couple of wickets each at the cost of 34 and 35 runs respectively.
