Global Project Manager of Fistula Care Plus Project New York, USA- Ms. Bethany Cole met with Pro-vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Professor Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed in a courtesy visit on Sunday. As the Chairperson of University Fistula Center, Professor Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed informed her about the current activities and future plan of the center.
Ms. Bethany Cole pledged unequivocal and continues support of Fistula Care Plus Project and would continue to work for the expansion and quality improvement of the center. University Fistula center is running a fistula ward with the technical support from Engender Health and funding from USAID. It is currently working towards building technical skills of physicians and nurses on fistula care, and providing medical care for the fistula patients coming from various corners of the country.
It is also working on building awareness about fistula prevention and care at the field level. To end fistula by 2030, University Fistula Centre is extending its assistance to goverment and private organizations. Ms. Bethany Cole expresses her satisfaction over the activities of Fistula Care Plus Project and hopes that Bangladesh will be Fistula free with the comprehensive effort of all in future. n
