The touring Bangladesh will face hosts West Indies in the first Test, which begins today at Kingstown in Saint Vincent. The match starts at 8.00 pm BST (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Bangladesh team and West Indies team reached Saint Vincent on Wednesday.
After getting Test status in June 2000, Bangladesh faced West Indies in 10 Test matches. Of them, West Indies registered six wins while Bangladesh won in the two occasions and rest of the two matches ended in draws.
Before the Test match, Bangladesh and Saint Kitts & Nevis took part in a three-day practice match, which came to end in a draw on September 1. Bangladesh batsmen showed a satisfactory performance in that match while the hosts also shone with the willow.
Bangladesh will include left-arm spinner Elias Sunny instead of new sensation Shohag Gazi.
Sohag Gazi is required to be at the Cardiff Metropolitan University by September 19 to have his bowling action tested as he was reported by the umpires after the second ODI against West Indies on August 22 played at National Cricket Stadium, St George’s, Grenada.
Apart from Gazi, Mohammad Mithun, Abdur Razzak, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Taskin Ahmed Taijul Islam, Shafiul Islam, Shuvagata Hom and Robiul Islam will be the replacement of them.
Bangladesh were whitewashed by West Indies in the three-match Dhaka Bank ODI series 3-0.
Later, Bangladesh openers made a solid start in the lone Twenty20 international match but the clash was washed out by rain on August 27.
Bangladesh will take on West Indies in the 2nd and final Test, which will be taken place in Gros Islet from September 13 to September 17.
The Tigers will depart the Caribbean Island for home on September 18.
